Spurs v Everton
For the most part playing in the Champions League is every club's ambition. But when you're trying to pick your team for a big Premier League match at the weekend after midweek action I have the feeling some managers out there are left thinking they could do without it. Harry Redknapp is a case in point. Spurs travelled to Milan in midweek, went down to ten men early on, conceded four in the first half and then had his players run themselves into the ground trying to recover from an impossible situation. Thanks to Gareth Bales's incredible hat-trick they nearly did but now Harry has to pick up and motivate his exhausted team for a lunchtime kick-off against Everton, just two and a half days after the final whistle in Milan.

Manchester City v Arsenal
That win against Chelsea was important in showing everyone that City can handle the big occasions and aren't intimidated by anyone in this league. But in some ways we already knew that so their scrappy 3-2 win over Blackpool last week perhaps told us more about the character of this team than the Chelsea game. They were a little sloppy in midfield, didn't defend well in the second half and struggled to create anything at all for large parts of the game but win the match they did. Taking three points when you're not playing well is an ominous sign for their rivals and the mark of a champion team. Admittedly they need to find another source of goals other than Carlos Tevez if they're to keep on winning but that's a discussion for another day.
